Most healthcare jobs require 4 years of college, such as a pre-pharmacy degree, or bachelors degree in biology. The American Hospital Association is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Founded in 1898, the American Hospital Association provides education for health care leaders and is a source of information on pharmacist assistant internships and public health programs.

The outlook for pharmacy careers is especially bright. Employment opportunities for pharmacy technicians, for example, are expected to increase by 15% over the next ten years. The increasing number of elderly people is seen as a factor in this growth. As people age they have more medical problems, and hospitals will require more pharmacists to work in the dispensary. Aside from a good salary, most healthcare personnel receive comprehensive medical and dental benefits, as well as retirement plans.

Cataract Surgery

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens that causes decreased vision. A cataract develops when some proteins clump together and starts to cloud an area of the lens. A cataract won't spread from one eye to the other, although many people develop cataracts in both eyes. As the cataract matures and gets cloudier, it may become difficult to read and do other normal tasks. A number of factors are known to contribute to the formation of cataracts, including aging, certain eye infections, and excessive exposure to bright sunlight.

Cataract surgery is usually done under local anesthesia, and most often takes less than one hour to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with an artificial one. There are two primary types of cataract-removal surgery. The first is Small Incision Cataract Surgery, where a tiny probe is inserted into the eye. The probe emits ultrasound waves that break up the cloudy lens into small fragments able to be removed by suction. The second type of cataract surgery is called is Extra-capsular Surgery, where an incision is made in the eye, and the hard center of the lens is removed.

Financial Aid Information

Government scholarships and Pell grant applications, combined with academic scholarships, only account for a third of total college aid. Student loans, work-study earnings, and personal savings make up the remaining two-thirds. The official FAFSA website is fafsa.ed.gov and is free to use. Many parents make mistakes when filling out the FAFSA information, including leaving some fields blank, spelling names wrong, and not entering social security numbers completely. Academic scholarships are highly competitive, and are usually awarded either by the admissions office, or individual academic departments.

Loan programs generally issue loans based on the credit history of the applicant and any co-signer. This is in contrast to federal loan programs that focus on need-based criteria. Financial aid may be administered through the Department of Education or your school's financial aid office. High school grades are the most important factor in gaining admission to the college of your choice, along with letters of recommendation. According to Fitchburg State University business degree 2014, an ideal academic record consists of a high GPA in courses of progressive difficulty. The College Board Scholarship Search service advertises several thousand sources for possible scholarship funds. While local churches or temples may not have the funding to provide scholarships, the organization's headquarters may have student scholarships available.
